Just had the SSPCA out to look at Flake, their timing was perfect as he was up and about, so they just watched him in the viv so`s not to stress him. They said he`s about 5 - 6 yrs old, not 2 as we were told, and he`s very lean, they could see his spine and said thats not a good sign, he needs to feed NOW. I was told to phone the zoo and ask for more advice. Trading Standards were with them, and theyre both on way too pet shop now to check all the other animals that are there, theyre gonna try and get our money back and make sure Flake gets the help he needs from shop owner.

Thats good Tracy, that the sspca are trying to help both you & Flake, but so bad that Flake is in this position in the first place, a really sad situation for your family.

I had a someone who kept snakes and lizards for years come see Flake last night, she said his viv isn`t hot enough for him, his thermometers are crap really hard too read, I`ve 2 new ones and a new heat light here so she gonna come back at the weekend and help me put them in. She tried him with a scented fluffy and he showed an interest in it but didn`t take it, she said thats a good sign and thinks he`ll eat when we heat him up. My vet is passing my phone number on to a friend of his who is a snake expert and breeds a few different kinds but mostly corns, so I`m hoping we can turn this around and get poor Flake back on track.

I know someone who has a beardie, its due to shed anyday now and shes gonna give me all the skin. The mouse was defrosted in a food bag with a small piece of frozen chicken and then rubbed in some of the bedding from my daughter`s hamster, he showed a lot of interest in it even though he didn`t eat it. I took some pics of him moving around his viv the other day, will put them on for you to seewhen I get them off my fone, hes stretched out so can really get good look at him. Sharon (who came to see him) is convinced we can get him eating once his temp is raised.

All Flakes new heat and lights have arrived, so we`re gonna change his set up tonight, am thinking that 5 days should be OK for him to settle back in before we offer him any more food, could someone let me know if thats wrong. Cheers!!!!

Thats Flake back in his new and improved viv, he`s a lot faster and defo more active now, I was expecting him to hide for a day or two after we changed it all, but he`s been out a lot more. I`m thinking of offering a fluffy either tonight or tommorow night, don`t want to give him anything too big after going so long without. The book I got on cornsnakes has a section on feeding and some picks, and we were dancing it in front of his nose (like the pet shop told us) and the book says not to do this as he`ll think its an attack, so I`ll scent the fluffy again and keep it away from his head and fingers crossed he goes for it, will let you all know.
